Washout' looking south.
At
the site of the south
leg of the wye, I described the reason it ws built and how it
was used.
The
Route 206 passes over the trail via a concrete
bridge. This is also the border with branchville boro. From here
north, the railroad right of way is borough property.
The
bridge
to cross 'Dry Brook' was removed during the scrapping of the branch
in 1967. However, the bridge for the adjacent siding was left in place.
Our group of brave-hearted exploreres scurried
across the rusting, yet sturdy I-beams to the other side to see
the baggage
car behind Montague tool and supply in Branchville.
Tom
Meyer, owner of the baggage car opened its doors and allowed our
group to inspect the work
in progress. (More info here: http://www.nwrailroadvideos.com/rrBranchvilleSiding.html
