Andover Junction

While not a Sussex Branch Station, trains on the Branch had to stop before proceeding over the L&H diamond because of the L&H's through line traffic. Therefore, while the L&H ran passenger traffic, it was no trouble for the Branch trains to treat this as a station stop.

This station burned down in 1946 and was replaced by the more modest structure.

  • This 1927 shot shows the L&H track side.
  • A 1940 shot showing an east bound steamer rubling past the station.
  • In 1941 a 1000 class locomotive is just about to cross the diamond having made it's way down from Newton.
  • This view shows the L&HR station as well as the DL&W freight house at the junction MP 56
