The Stanhope Cut-Off

In 1901 the Lackawanna Railroad built a new connection for the Sussex Branch at Netcong. This allowed trains to run through to Hoboken without an awkward turning procedure at Waterloo and cut the travel time.

The leg to Waterloo was abandoned soon after, but a spur to a large ice house was kept in place until about 1930.
