Andover Passenger Depot

[View 2]

After the Lackawanna discontinued the agent in Andover, the passenger depot was purchased by E. M. Seely and moved off site, (around 1960,) to be converted into a dwelling. I was first told the tale of the Andover depot by Tom Schmeider and this was added to by Mike DelVecchio.

In my quest for information, I encountered Guy Puffer who extolled the following tale:

Ernest M. Seely was a widower and purchased the station for I believe about $600.00 and then had it moved to the current location. I didn't see the moving process. "E.M." as he was called was also Clerk of the Borough of Andover for many years and even stored municipal records in a vault-like room in the basement of the home which he had constructed when the conversion was being done, and as I recall it was located under the entrance porch. It probably would be interesting to visit the attic of the dwelling for I suspect the old roof rafters of the station could be seen and perhaps even some of the old paint.
